Publisher’s Weekly

Recently Publisher’s Weekly gave a brief review of Larry Hurtado’s upcoming book, Destroyer of the Gods (Baylor University Press, 2016).  This promises to be one of Hurtado’s best books.  He shows in detail how early Christianity redefined what a religion is and what a religion does.  The things we typically associate with Christianity–the worship of one God, ethics, the Holy Scriptures–were considered very odd in the first few centuries, so odd that Christianity was considered a clear  and present danger.
